About us
Audio
Stories For Kids started in April 2006 when Sue Powell-Reed
and Leighton Jones left ITV Wales to start up this new innovative
audio story company. Sue is the creative drive behind the
company while Leighton is responsible for the Web design and
Production side of the business.
The
creative duo came up with the idea when they were working
as Announcers for ITV Wales and they now put their vast experience
in the media to use as publishing entrepreneurs.
Sue
spent 26 years at ITV Wales and was the first female Sports
Reporter in the UK. She then moved into continuity, reading
the news and weather as well as promoting the station's programmes.
This experience along with her love of Speech and Drama which
she taught under the London Academy of Music and Dramatic
Art alongside her television work, meant that publishing audio
stories was the dream job and a natural change in career.
Leighton
has also had many years experience in broadcasting. For 9
years he hosted and produced a variety of programmes on local
radio, and was Welsh correspondent for APTN (Associated Press
Television News) in London. He joined ITV Wales in 2000 where
he enjoyed the fun of compiling scripts to inform and entertain
viewers. His media experience combined with his love of all
things technical makes him the ideal production director.
Sue
and Leighton now work as a Publishing House, receiving stories
from authors all over the world and producing audio versions
of their work for sale either as a download or available on
CD.
